IPL

Intense pulsed light (IPL) works to take years off your complexion and reduce the effects sun exposure, harsh cleansers, and pollution have had on your skin. It uses short blasts of high-intensity light to stimulate collagen and elastin development so you get younger-looking skin that’s resilient, firmer, and more evenly toned and textured.

FAQs

What is IPL?

Intense-pulsed light (IPL) is a laser treatment that uses energy to improve the look and tone of your skin. The light's energy stimulates your skin’s natural self-renewal process to reduce the effects of sun damage, aging, and lifestyle on your complexion.

IPL is effective in addressing skin complaints such as:

  • Irregular skin pigmentation like sun spots and dark patches

  • Uneven skin tone and texture

  • Broken capillaries and spider veins

  • Fine wrinkles

  • Facial redness

  • Acne

  • Scars

  • Hyperpigmentation

Injecting Confidence customizes your IPL treatments to your skin type and cosmetic goals. The treatments are quick and effective, with minimal downtime involved.

How does IPL work?

IPL delivers short, controlled pulses of light energy into the treatment areas. The light targets the undesirable pigments in the upper layer of your skin without damaging the surrounding skin or tissue.

Pigmented cells are compromised and break down when exposed to IPL. Your body then flushes them away, leaving behind younger, healthier, and more even-toned skin.

What should I expect during IPL treatment?

We will first cleanse your face and, if you choose, apply a topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort.

Before your procedure begins, you will be asked to put on protective eyewear.

During your treatment, you may feel your skin getting gently warm in the area of the procedure. You may also feel a light snapping sensation. The heat is absorbed by the targeted areas and stimulates the skin cells to generate new collagen. The computer-guided scanner allows our aestheticians to apply a precise and even application of the laser on the skin.

As you lie back in a comfortable treatment chair, the IPL device delivers light energy to designated areas. You will feel slight zapping and tingling as the energy penetrates your skin. Most people tolerate the session quite well.

What can I expect after IPL?

You may have some redness and swelling following treatment that lasts up to six hours. It’s as if you have a mild sunburn. You won’t need to schedule downtime but may choose to stay home to allow these side effects to subside.

In the days following an IPL, any bothersome dark spots may become even darker. Within a couple of weeks, however, these spots peel away, revealing healthy, evenly toned skin.

How many treatments will I need?

You will notice some improvements to your complexion after your first IPL treatment, but most people get the best results from a series of three to seven treatments. We suggest about 2-4 weeks between appointments to allow your skin to heal between sessions.

Is there any downtime?

No. There is no downtime associated with the BBL Photo Facial treatment. You can resume normal activities immediately after your treatment.
